ISREE-14, the 14th International Symposium on Renewable Energy Education will take place in conjunction with SWC 2021 and represents the educational track for the Congress. ISREE-14 explores the latest developments and new initiatives in renewable energy education worldwide and discusses best ways to educate the general public on pathways toward a more sustainable, environmentally-friendly and just world. ISREE-14 encourages schools, universities, research centers, and training groups to collaborate in educating and training both in technical and in related interpersonal, soft skills necessary for creating a strong renewable energy workforce.

ISREE-14 Forum

At SWC 2021, a special ISREE-14 forum titled "Renewable Energy Transformation Essential Education" will be offered on Tuesday, 26 of October from 7-9.30 PM CET.

About the forum:

ISREE-14 explores the latest developments and new initiatives in renewable energy education worldwide and discusses the best ways to educate the general public on pathways toward a more sustainable, environmentally-friendly and just world. In this forum, ISREE-14 participants focus on these three non-technical, fundamental educational areas essential for achieving a successful renewable energy transformation:

  1. Interpersonal skills (communication, teamwork, critical thinking);
  2. JEDI principles (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion); and
  3. Sustainability guidelines (efficiency, wise use, circular economy).

How are, or how can these fundamental skills, principles and guidelines be included in renewable energy educational programs in schools, universities and other training organizations?

The forum will open with a brief overview by the moderator of the importance of these areas to the energy transformation. This will be followed by a wide range of perspectives from the panel on the question provided in short (5 minute) summary statements. Questions from the forum attendees will be addressed by the panel. These forum discussions will provide the basis for ongoing dialogue within the ISREE community on these key topics moving forward.

This forum is open to attendees of SWC 2021 only.
